How to live in a good health in UK

One of the important things to do when you come as a student to the UK is to register with a GP (General Practitioner) in a case of illness or injury.

Students and their dependants entering the UK to study a full time course lasting more than 6 months are eligible for medical treatment without charge under the National Health Service. This also applies to EU Nationals and to countries with "reciprocal agreements" - no matter how long hey are staying in the UK.

Students studying for less than 6 months should take out health insurance unless they are from a country with reciprocal arrangements for health care (hospital treatment only).

The countries with the reciprical agreements are :

Anguilla
Australia
Barbados
British Virgin Islands
Bulgaria
Channel Islands (if less than 3 months)
Czech Republic
Falkland Islands
Hungary
Isle of Man
Malta (up to 30 days' stay)
Montserrat
New Zealand
Poland
Romania
Russia
St Helena
Turks and Caicos Islands
Former Soviet Union States (except Lativia, Lithuania & Estonia)
Slovak Republic
All countries in Former Yugoslavia

EEA nationals are entitled to treatment on the same basis as UK residents. Students who are EEA Nationals Overseas (i.e. have been living outside the EEA for the last 3 years or longer) have to pay for health care and are advised to take out private health insurance.

Please note that treatment for accident and emergencies is free for everyone.
