Another good
way to look for accommodation is to look in magazine or newspapers.
You can find lots of adverts in some of them but it is always a
good idea to phone straight away.
Keep in mind
that finding a nice place to live requires a lot of phone calls,
patience and and often involves disappointment because some else
got it before you. But do not give up! You will certainly need a
lot of determination to begin with.
TNT is
a free magazine you can get every Monday at almost any underground
station. It is a magazine directed to Antipodeans (Australians,
New Zealanders and South Africans), but they list a lot of adds
for traveler and students. It is worth giving it a go, but on one
condition only: you will start calling on the early Monday morning!
The magazine has also got a web site

Loot
is the most popular newspaper for finding accommodation. It costs
£1.40 but is one of the the best papers to find anything from
a place to live, through a new job, to a new... fridge. The best
day for accommodation is Wednesday and if you want to see the ads
before printed, you can register and pay a fee (£5)through
Internet www.loot.com
Evening Standard
is a London paper that comes out every day. Every issue has got
ads regarding accommodation, but the Wednesday issue contains a
supplement "Homes and Property", where you can find a
lot of ads for all those looking into buying or renting a place.
